The Temple Parks Foundation and Temple Parks & Recreation honored the many volunteers who helped make a difference within Temple’s park system throughout 2016 at Tuesday evening’s Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

The annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held at the Frank W. Mayborn Convention Center and featured the theme Our Volunteers Are Out of this World! The evening’s festivities were emceed by Temple Parks Foundation President, Allan Einboden, and featured keynote speaker Col. William Pailes – Air Force Astronaut & Director of Temple High School’s Air Force JROTC Program. Honorees enjoyed a catered welcome reception and sit down dinner as appreciation for their service.

“We want to extend an enormous thank you to all of our volunteers who made a difference in our parks, facilities, and special events this year,” said Kevin Beavers, Director of Temple Parks & Recreation. Without the generosity of these individuals, we would not be able to provide the high caliber parks and services that our community deserves.”

In 2016, approximately 372 individuals volunteered a total of 10,174 hours of service to Temple Parks & Recreation, with 36 volunteers contributing over 100 hours of service each.
